John Cieslewicz is a Senior Engineering Director at Google leading teams that build foundational components for Google's data infrastructure. He spent his first decade at Google building and then leading F1, Google's high performance and distributed database and query engine (F1: A Distributed SQL Database That Scales, F1 Query: Declarative Querying at Scale, F1 Lightning: HTAP as a Service).
John received his PhD in Computer Science from Columbia University and his BS in Computer Science from Stanford University. His research and past publications focus on database query performance, the intersection of hardware and query processing design, as well as large scale distributed data infrastructure.
